INTENDENCIA URBANA PARA EL 2050/ URBAN PLANNING FOR 2050

Nadie sabe realmente qué nos depara el futuro, pero la realidad ahora es que nuestro espacios urbanos están atestados de gente y contaminados.

Casi la mitad de la población mundial vive actualmente en ciudades, para el 2050 se prevé un aumento demográfico del 75% con lo que la producción de alimentos dentro de la ciudad y la inclusión de las "Granjas verticales" es inminente.

A partir de este tipo de reflexión se plantea una posible estrategia de intendencia urbana para la producción, distribución y comercialización de alimentos en Madrid.

Se realiza un análisis urbano completo para analizar los puntos de consumo de alimentos y valorar la ubicación de una red completa y compleja de posibles intervenciones con desarrollo temporal. 

Así pues se analizan la hostelería, la restauración y su densidad, los mercados públicos y los solares en desuso disponibles. Con toda la información obtenida y teniendo como primer condicionante la ubicación de Mercamadrid, el actual y el futuro, que se prevé en Chamartín; se decide intervenir en la creación de un Gran Eje Verde, desde Chamartín a Atocha, donde se propone la creación de granjas verticales en tres puntos concretos y la creación de huertos urbanos en las cubiertas de los edificios disponibles a lo largo de todo el eje. 

Las Granjas Verticales serán los puntos iniciales y referentes del proyecto, a partir de su proyección se realizará la conversión de las cubiertas en "Huertos Urbanos" en desarrollo temporal y con la colaboración de los organismos públicos y la Administración. Estos tres puntos son Chamartín, Nuevos Ministerios y Atocha, por su singularidad, reconocimiento como hitos urbanos en la ciudad y su conectividad, entre ellos y con los medios de transporte urbanos.

En el proyecto hay tres fases que lo condicionan: Producción, Distribución y Comercialización.

Para ello se proyectan las Granjas Verticales con cultivo hidropónico, por ello tienen un especial diseño arquitectónico que facilita las condiciones óptimas para los cultivos, tanto en la accesibilidad para las instalaciones en sí del cultivo hidropónico, el mantenimiento de la temperatura para el cultivo y la sostenibilidad de todo el conjunto. Torres con un recorrido ascendente helicoidal con piezas de invernaderos adyacentes, que en planta baja generan un mercado público, zonas de almacenaje subterráneas acondicionadas y conexión con la red pública de metro. 

Las Granjas Verticales son las piezas claves de todo el proyecto, producen alimentos de forma orgánica y sostenible, generan un espacio pública que hace de mercado y posibilita la comercialización, tienen zonas de almacenaje anexas en solares en desuso o subterráneas y se conectan con las líneas de metro para realizar la distribución en horario compatible, es decir, cuando el metro no esté abierto al público.

A partir de aquí y siempre con el respaldo de organismos públicos y estatales se fomentará la creación de "Huertos Urbanos" en las cubiertas de los edificios que se ubican en torno al eje y cuyos productos serán gestionados por las granjas verticales. La clave del éxito del proyecto radica en la participación ciudadana y estatal para su completo desarrollo.

Almost half of the world's population now lives in cities, by 2050 it is expected a population increase of 75% with what food production within the city and the inclusion of the " Green Vertical Farms" is imminent.

From this type of reflection arises as a possible strategy of urban administration for the production, distribution and marketing of food in Madrid.

A comprehensive urban analysis is performed to analyze food consumption points and assess the location of a complete and complex network of possible interventions with temporal development. 

So there are analyzed the hotel trade, the restoration and its thickness, the public markets and the available plots in desuetude. With all the obtained information and taking as the first determinant the place of Mercamadrid, the current and the future one, which is foreseen in Chamartín. Deciding to intervene in the creation of a Great Green Axis, from Chamartín to Atocha, which proposes the creation of vertical farms in three specific points and the creation of urban farms in the roofs of the available buildings along the whole axis. 

Green Vertical Farms will be initial and reference points of the project, from its design roof conversion in "Urban Farms" will take place in a temporary development and with the collaboration of government agencies and the council. These three points are Chamartín, Nuevos Ministerios, and Atocha, for its uniqueness, recognition as urban landmarks in the city and its connectivity, between themselves and with the urban transport network.

In the project, there are three phases that determine it: production, distribution, and marketing.

For this purpose  Vertical Farms are designed with a hydroponic system, therefore, have a special architectural design that provides optimal conditions for crops, both in the accessibility to facilities of Hydroponic growing, maintaining the temperature for cultivation and the sustainability of the unit. Towers with a helical travel upward with parts of adjacent greenhouses, which generate a public market, equipped underground storage areas and connection to the public network of subway downstairs.

Green Vertical Farms are key parts of the whole project, organic and sustainable-produced food, generate a public space that makes the market and enables marketing, have annexed in disused plots or underground storage areas and are connected with the subway network for distribution during support hours when the subway is not open to the public.

From here and always with the support of public and state agencies will be encouraged the creation of  "Urban Farms" on the  buildings roofs that were built around the axis whose products will be managed by the vertical farms. The key to the success of the project lies in the citizen participation and state for their complete development.
